Sabrina & Casey’s elegant destination wedding at Château de Bonmont, from Florida to Switzerland
From Florida to Switzerland, Sabrina and Casey traveled across the Atlantic to celebrate their wedding surrounded by family and friends at Château de Bonmont, a historic wedding venue in Chéserex in the canton of Vaud.
Set on a private estate and golf course between Geneva and Lausanne, Château de Bonmont offers beautiful views across the Lake Geneva region and toward the Swiss Alps. For Sabrina and Casey, it was the perfect setting for a destination wedding that felt elegant, relaxed and completely personal to them.
Their day brought together heartfelt moments in the church, time with the people who had traveled to Switzerland to celebrate with them, portraits across the Bonmont golf course and an evening of celebration back at the château.
From Florida to Switzerland for Their Wedding
Sabrina and Casey brought their family and friends together from near and far for a summer destination wedding in Switzerland.
The day began with preparations at Château de Bonmont before everyone made their way to the church for the ceremony. After an emotional ceremony filled with beautiful moments between the couple and their families, the celebrations continued back at Bonmont.
One of my favorite things about their wedding was how intentional it felt without ever feeling overly formal. Every detail reflected something of who they are, while the day itself still had plenty of space for the spontaneous interactions, laughter and emotion that make a wedding personal.
For their couple portraits, we took some time to explore the golf course and surrounding grounds at Bonmont. The open landscape and soft evening light gave us a completely different atmosphere from the château itself and allowed us to create a mixture of natural, documentary moments and more editorially inspired portraits.
What Is It Like to Have a Wedding at Château de Bonmont?
A wedding at Château de Bonmont combines the privacy and elegance of a historic Swiss estate with expansive grounds, a golf course and beautiful views across the Lake Geneva region. Located in Chéserex, it is easily accessible from both Geneva and Lausanne while still feeling peaceful and removed from the city.
For couples planning a destination wedding in Switzerland, one of Bonmont’s biggest advantages is that so much of the wedding experience can happen within one beautiful setting. Couples can prepare at the château, welcome their guests on the estate and use the surrounding grounds and golf course for portraits without needing to spend a significant part of the day traveling between locations.
Having photographed a full wedding here, I also found Bonmont particularly versatile from a photography perspective. There isn’t just one beautiful backdrop — the architecture, interiors, gardens, golf course and surrounding landscape all create very different possibilities throughout the day.

The size of the property also gives guests space to enjoy the surroundings while offering plenty of quieter areas for couple and family photographs away from the main reception.
And visually, the combination of château architecture, manicured grounds and the more expansive golf course landscape means the setting feels unmistakably Swiss without relying on just one specific view.
Getting Ready at Château de Bonmont
The spacious bridal suite at Château de Bonmont is particularly well suited to wedding-morning preparations and photography.
This is something that can be easy to overlook when choosing a wedding venue, but the getting-ready space can have a significant impact on both the experience of the morning and the photographs.
At Bonmont, there was plenty of room for Sabrina, her hair and makeup team and the people getting ready alongside her without the space feeling crowded.
From a photographer’s perspective, having a beautiful, spacious room also creates opportunities for more than simply documenting hair and makeup. There is space for photographs of the wedding dress and details, quieter moments with family and friends, and bridal portraits before leaving for the ceremony.
The interiors also mean the beginning of the gallery already feels visually connected to the venue and the rest of the wedding day.
For couples planning their timeline at Bonmont, I would recommend leaving a little breathing room during preparations rather than scheduling the morning too tightly. It allows you to actually enjoy those final moments before the ceremony and gives us the opportunity to make use of the beautiful setting without anything feeling rushed.
A Heartfelt Church Wedding Ceremony
Sabrina and Casey chose to hold their wedding ceremony in a church before returning to Château de Bonmont for the rest of their celebration.
The ceremony brought some of the most emotional moments of the day — from the anticipation before Sabrina’s arrival to the reactions of their family and friends as they exchanged their vows.
I always love this contrast within a wedding gallery: the quiet and emotion of the ceremony followed by the energy that comes as everyone arrives back at the reception and the celebrations begin.
For a wedding at Bonmont, having the château as the base for preparations and the reception while incorporating a church ceremony can also give the day several distinct visual chapters without losing the feeling of one cohesive celebration.
Wedding Portraits on the Bonmont Golf Course
The golf course at Château de Bonmont offers couples a beautiful location for wedding portraits without having to travel away from their guests or venue. This was one of my favorite parts of Sabrina and Casey’s wedding day.
Later in the day, we took a little time away from the reception and headed onto the golf course for their portraits. Valentin, the event manager at Bonmont, took us out in a golf cart and brought us to several beautiful locations around the property, which made it incredibly easy to explore different parts of the estate without taking too much time away from the celebration.
The scale of the landscape, open views and softer evening light created an entirely different atmosphere from the château. We were able to move between several locations quite quickly, giving Sabrina and Casey a variety of backdrops while keeping the portrait session relaxed and efficient.
It gave us space for wide environmental photographs where Sabrina and Casey became part of the landscape, alongside closer and more editorial portraits.
For couples dreaming of wedding photographs that incorporate the Swiss scenery, this is a significant advantage of Bonmont. You can achieve that sense of landscape and scale without building a separate mountain or lakeside portrait excursion into an already busy wedding timeline.
And having the Bonmont team help us navigate the property made the experience even more seamless. Rather than turning portraits into a long photoshoot, we could spend a short amount of time together, create something beautiful and then get Sabrina and Casey back to the people they had come to Switzerland to celebrate with.

Château de Bonmont is particularly well suited to destination weddings because it combines historic architecture, privacy, beautiful Swiss scenery and proximity to Geneva and Lausanne in one location.

What I will remember most about Sabrina and Casey’s wedding isn’t one particular portrait or detail, but how personal the entire celebration felt.
They had crossed an ocean to celebrate this chapter of their lives in Switzerland, surrounded by the family and friends who mattered most to them. From the heartfelt moments in the church to wandering the golf course together for portraits and celebrating into the evening, the day felt unmistakably theirs.
